Our Marine Insurance expert Desiree Taylor caught up with a number of her clients during a really successful Seawork commercial marine exhibition in Southampton last week.

Des caught up with charter boat owner David Stenson who told her that increasing premiums in the past year had concerned other owners across the charter boat sector and a number were looking for brokers who could find a better rate for them.

He took some of the marketing material Des had with her and said he would share the details of the services A-One can provide through group chats with other owners.

Des also caught up with her customer John Ritchie who was at Seawork this year with a brand new boat he had designed and built with the team at the Izmir Shipyard in Turkey.

Although John has been a client since 2018, he approached Des in May this year to get insurances in place for the new rib with steel wheelhouse, hopefully a prototype for many more to be built in the future.

John had only seen designs and differing build stages before the boat arrived from Izmir in time for the Seawork exhibition, he said he was grateful for the work Des had done in sourcing the right insurance packages in time for setting up at the show.

Des said: “We have got an extensive portfolio of marine sector clients and it was great to catch up with so many of them at the superb Seawork Exhibition in Southampton again last week.

“Marine is a fast-moving sector so it is important to ensure that both existing and potential new clients are aware of how the markets are shifting and the best way for them to secure the right insurance packages they need, at a price that works for them.

Seawork is the largest European commercial marine exhibition, offering a unique combination of undercover exhibition space, open air demonstrations and floating displays, and was held at the prestigious Mayflower Park in Southampton, from June 21-23.
