Insurance broker P J Aiken is expanding its Dorchester base following unprecedented growth during the past three years. Part of the A-One Insurance Group, which operates throughout the South West from its headquarters at Ringwood via six regional offices, P J Aiken Insurance is seeking another member of staff to service the busy market town and surrounding area.

Established for four decades, the increase in work since 2015 is the result of hard work, determination and employing insurance experts.

P J Aiken Insurance has built a loyal customer base by not only providing excellent customer service to personal and commercial clients, but also through commitment to the local community and charity work. To meet demand, it has recruited four new members of staff and is seeking another to join the friendly team.

Manager Donna Wilson said: "Customers are increasingly referring more and more family, friends and colleagues, which is wonderful for business. Some of our clients have been with us since our foundation, therefore we are seeing three generations placing their business with us."

Fundraising for Weldmar Hospice, Cancer Research, Wear it Pink Breast Cancer charity, Homeless charities and Tuck by Truck deliveries (a Weymouth social enterprise organised by Dorset Abilities Group), the broker is also involved with sponsorship of The Local Hero Awards which recognise inspirational carers for loved ones who have gone above and beyond in job roles.

Known for random acts of kindness in Dorchester town centre too, staff were out and about during the week with the P J Aiken Easter Bunny.

"Awareness of our business name is strong thanks to our community work, business sponsorships, Chamber of Commerce involvement and charity events’ participation, all of which we enjoy immensely," said Donna.

A-One Insurance Group has started 2018 with a bang as their apprentice Ben Bronsell has been declared Apprentice of the Year at The South West Business and Community Awards. The ceremony organised by South West Expo and backed by The Business Exchange, was held on January 18th at The Double Tree Hilton Hotel, Swindon. The awards saw the multi-award winner and BBC Dragon’s Den 2017 winner Julianne Ponan deliver an inspirational and motivational speech.

Ian Penfold, Founder and Managing Director of A-One Insurance Group, said:"What an honour for one of our apprentices Ben Bronsell to be crowned the winner in the South West Region. It is also an honour for the whole team who have mentored and guided him on his business development journey so far".

"Within a short time following Ben’s arrival we could see he had great potential. I hope this award will harness his ambitions and inspire him and other members of our team to develop and grow within our company".

Ben Bronsell, Apprentice of the Year Winner, said of his achievement: "I am immensely proud to have been chosen as the winner of this highly regarded award, it was overwhelming and totally unexpected. It’s been a great experience and has helped my communication, presentation and networking skills considerably."
